Outdoor peace vigil and candlelight mass in Rush City
The events of 9/11 are ever present in our memories. Those who lost their loved ones in the tragedy, along with our military troops and their families involved in the ensuing war, deserve our continued support. This September 11 it will be six years since the terrorist act that shook the world; terrorism and violence are a continual threat and are only on the increase. As believers in the message of love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, Christians come together in Rush City to intercede for those who lost their lives, to support the affected families, to implore God's mercy on the perpetrators and to pray for greater peace in the world.
A Peace Vigil commemorating the event of 9/11 and the subsequent war, along with a Candlelight Mass will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Centennial Grotto of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Rush City on Tuesday, Sept.11. There will be refreshments after the event.
As of Aug. 28, 2007, there are 3,783 U.S. service men and women who have died in Iraq and 27,004 are wounded. Many thousands of Iraqis have lost lives and the loss of property is incalculable. They pray for all those affected.
They will be joined by Michael Granlund of Cambridge, and Jason Johnson of Rush City who have rendered their service in Iraq. They will share their memories of this war. Everyone is Welcome.
