TO THE EDITOR:

I wanted to send out a great big thank you for all of you that were able to help out our neighbors in SE Minnesota in this time of great need for them. With your help, and I must say on very short notice, we were able to meet the challenge that was put before us and deliver several hundred pounds of supplies yesterday.

Some donators came with small bags, some came with big boxes and some even came directly from the stores in town pushing a grocery cart full of many of the listed items.

Everyone understands that this came up with very short notice, and we know that more time would have given even greater results. That did not stop us from meeting this challenge and helping those that need it. Thanks again for your help and prayers for those who are making a great come back with your help.

A special thanks also to the members of the Lions club who gave up work time and family time to help load and deliver these items to a gathering center in Winona, Minn., about a 350-mile round trip.

I must pass this along to you who became a part of this project. It is short but tells us why we appreciate your help to do projects like this.  When our truck arrived at the delivery point, the  member of the Lions club that was driving noticed that all of the smaller deliveries were being processed through the front door as anyone would expect. When approached by one of the organizers for unloading, he was told to go to the rear of the building to unload because of the larger load of supplies to unload. He did so and while being assisted by an elderly lady to unload the supplies, he turned to the lady, name unknown, and handed her $200 in $25 gift cards to use for additional supplies and at that time noticed a tear being wiped from her cheek.
