The Rush City cross country team ran at the Pine City invitational Sept. 6.

Sophomore Laura Hestbeck finished 11th out of 46 girls with a time of 17:39.

Zach Saumer took 12th out of 56 boys at the meet with a time of 18:40.

"In all of our races, our runners held their spots in the last 100 meters and kept opponents behind them. This is so important to learn. Even though they are quite fatigued, they need to hold that position," head coach Kevin Smith said.

Up next, the team runs at the North Branch Invite Sept. 13.
