Vikes drop second conference game of season to Fridley
The North Branch football team is learning the hard way that if you don't score points, you can't win football games.
For the second week in a row, the Vikings failed to get on the scoreboard.
On Sept. 7, the Vikings lost to North Suburban Conference foe Fridley 37-0.
"Despite the loss, we did some things really well," head coach Dave Eyre said. "Our D-line played well."
After the first quarter, the boys were down 14-0 and by halftime the Fridley lead was extended by two more touchdowns.
Add in some questionable calls by the referee and the game was out of reach in a hurry.
Compounding the problems for the Vikings are a list of injuries.
"We know we have haven't been playing our best. We have to be able to string some points together," Eyre said.
Up next, the boys face the Irondale Knights at home for their Homecoming game on Sept. 14.
Irondale beat Totino-Grace on Sept. 7. Totino-Grace were the defending state champions last year.
"It's going to be a good challenge for us, and I am looking forward to a good game" Eyre said. "We have to come with good attitudes."
