A stalled offense equals losses for Vikes

In the clash of two fairly young teams, Chisago Lakes defeated the Vikings girls soccer team 3-0 on Sept. 13

A few years ago, double digit victories for the Wildcats were quite common when the Wildcats faced the Vikings.

"A 0-3 loss for the Vikings can be considered a good result especially when you look at only being down by one at halftime. With a little bit more consistent arbitration the game would have even been closer. That's really promising for the future of the North Branch girls school soccer program," head coach Peter Grand said.

A day after Homecoming, on Sept. 15, the girls hosted the Hermantown Hawks in a non-conference game.

Being down 0-1 at halftime, the game was still open and the outcome unpredictable.

The Hawks had other things in mind, as they earned their second goal of the game off a penalty, stretching their lead to two.

"I am really proud of the way the girls reacted on the field. Of course they were disappointed, but did not show it in the game. Sometimes the outcome of a game is not really decided by the two teams playing. Having it happen two times in a couple of days makes it even more difficult to explain. But you have to overcome misjudgment and imperfection in daily life too. So we are just hoping for some fairer treatment during the remainder of our season."
