Alfred L. Rydeen
Alfred L. Rydeen died on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007 at The Villages of North Branch at the age of 91 years.
He was born July 25, 1916 in North Branch to Frank and Emily (Carlson) Rydeen. He attended school through the 11th grade. He married Elaine Anderson on November 20, 1940 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pine City. Alfred served his country during WWII serving with the U.S. Army and at the landing of Normandy. After his discharge from the military, he returned to Minnesota and he and Elaine lived in Minneapolis where Alfred worked for the Soo Line Railroad in Minneapolis. They later moved to North Branch where he managed the North Branch Liquor Store. He later worked for General Safety Equipment as an assembly technician for 14 years before retiring in 1981.
After retirement he became a professional fisherman and fished the area lakes almost daily. He was a 60 year member of the North Branch American Legion and a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church of North Branch.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; sons, Lawrence (Shirley) of San Diego, CA; Terry (Mary) of Worthington; granddaughter, Darci Rydeen of Denver, CO; brother, Philip Rydeen of Minneapolis.
Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch with Rev. Loren Mellum officiating. Music will be by Cathie Hedren and Jon Ekstrom. Visitation is one hour prior to service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Interment will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.
