‘Leaf Spectacular!' celebrates fall color in Taylors Falls

Leaf Spectacular! will be celebrated Sept. 29 through Oct. 14 in Taylors Falls. Each day you can take the excursion boat, rent a canoe, hike in Interstate State Park, visit the 1855 Folsom House (closed Tuesdays), walk in town, enjoy the shops, restaurants and mini golf while taking in the autumn colors.

Special events will also be happening during the event. Sept. 15 Franconia Sculpture Park will hold its Gala Art and Artist Celebration with music, art, meet the artist, see the new site, great food and more between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. This event is free.

Sept. 24 there will be a Fall Cruise Fundraiser at 6:30 to purchase items for educational needs of students of Taylors Falls Elementary School. There will be music, door prizes and hors d'oeuvres throughout the cruise. Tickets are available by calling (651) 213-2100.

Sept. 29 there are three events. A chili fest/silent auction/garage sale takes place at St. Joseph Catholic Church between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. It will also feature hot dogs, homemade pies, ice cream, cheese curds, kids games, karaoke, craft sale, root beer garden and live music. The TF Lions will serve soup ‘n pie downtown in the city parking lot starting at 11 a.m. through mid-afternoon. And the Methodist Church will hold a rummage and bake sale Fri. and Sat. the 28th and 29th between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Oct. 6 First Evangelical Lutheran Church will have its annual Harvest Festival with hands-on-demonstrations of early crafts for all ages: apple pressing, spinning, wood working, weaving, soap making, food and more between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Competitions in the log roll, log carry and two-man saw take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Downtown, First Baptist Church will sell Tacos in a Bag from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
