The North Branch cross country team ran at the Milaca Early Bird meet Aug. 27.

The girls took 5th out of 15 teams while the boys took 13th out of 15 teams.

"This was a pretty good start to the year for us. We can run better but it was a good first meet for us." head coach Brian Hasleiet said.

Miranda Charley finished in 13th place and was the first girl to cross the finish line.

Becker won the girls meet with 68 total points. St. Michael/Albertville won the boys meet with 27 points.

The boys were short-handed for the day, running with only five varsity athletes. Ryan Norman crossed the finished first on the boys team finishing in 32nd place with a time of 19:11.

"Overall, I was pleased how all of our runners competed in our first meet of the year," Hasleiet said.
