The Rush City boys and girls cross country team ran at the Milaca Early Bird Meet on Aug. 27.

Sophomore Laura Hestbeck finished 29th out of 108 girls at the meet and was the first member of the girls team to finish.

On the boys side, Zach Saumer finished in 37th place out of 111 runners.

"We are focusing on our runners learning the proper pace and running consistently for the entire race distance," head coach Kevin Smith said. "We are happy with our results as this meet is very early."

Up next, the team runs at the Pine City Invitational Thursday, followed by the a meet in Mora on Sept. 11.
