Over the last several weeks there have been many citations issued in North Branch for winter parking violations. In an effort to alleviate confusion, here is the city ordinance pertaining to winter parking:

Not withstanding any ordinance of the city to the contrary, it is unlawful for anyone to park a vehicle on a public alley, street, or highway within the city between the hours of 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. from Nov. 1 until April 1, inclusive, or after any snowstorm until the snow has been removed or during snow removal time.

It is unlawful for anyone to park a vehicle in a city-owned parking lot, except by city permit, between the hours of 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. from Nov. 1 until April 1, inclusive, or after any snowstorm until the snow has been removed or during snow removal time.

Any vehicles parking in violation of this section may be removed from said street, highway, or alley and all charges for removal and storage resulting therefrom shall be assessed against the owner of the vehicle.
