It’s January 11, 2012 and the sun is shining and it’s 50 degrees outside.
It’s pretty hard to believe we have come this far this winter season without a huge snowstorm.
They say it will snow tomorrow and the temps will drop. And then I suppose it will be more like winter in Minnesota.
Aside from a wet spring last year and the two terrible storms in July and August, we have had weather to die for. Fall was gorgeous and I’m not complaining one bit about the winter so far.
It has allowed me to remain upright as I walk about outside, and that hasn’t always been the case in winters past.
Perhaps we have been rewarded for the winter of 2010-11. It snowed almost every day, and each morning I woke to a very ice car. It got so tedious that sometime in March, standing it no longer, I wrote a song about coming out to be greeted by the ice and snow each morning. I though it was pretty clever.
Yesterday kids were skateboarding in the parking lot next door, sans jackets.
People are out running in just their sweats, biking and taking walks.
All seems to be well with the world.
Here’s the thing… I’m wondering if we’ve become too complacent and one of these days the ball will fall and we will get hit hard. If that happens those birds twittering in the morning will be in for a rude awakening. Never-the-less, I’m enjoying this season whatever is should be called. How about you?
