Though the team may be young, the Rush City/Braham wrestlers have held their own and are showing improvement as the season progresses with wins over several teams last week.

The wrestlers then competed in the Hinckley Jaguar Invitational last Saturday when the team placed fourth out of 10 teams.

The Tigers racked up 133 team points to place ahead of Trinity School with 114 points and behind Melrose/Sauk Centre with 134 points. Hinckley-Finlayson/Pine City/East Central took first with 182 points and Chisago Lakes Area took second with 177 total team points. Big Lake, Ogilvie, Spectrum, Virginia Area and Granite City Baptist also all placed behind Rush City/Braham.

Jacob Lynch (freshman) took home first place in the 195 weight class for the Tigers with a pin in the finals. Anderson (senior), Mielke (junior), L. Johnson (freshman), and I. Johnson (eighth grader) all placed second. Tyler Sitz (113 sophomore) came in fourth, while Jacob Lindgren (126 eighth grader) and Kost (sophomore) finished fifth.

“We are a still a young team, but we are hungry to take the next step,” said Coach Josh Moulton.

The Rush City/Braham wrestling team will travel to Cloquet High School for a triangular meet with Cloquet/Esko and Nashwauk-Keewatin/Greenway at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19.
