Community Partnership awarded America’s first VetCorps position
Community Partnership and Partners for a Drug Free Chisago County Coalition will be awarding the country’s first Veterans and Military Families Corp (VetCorp) position. The position is titled VetCorps Prevention Coordinator and will provide 1700 hours of service per year through January 31, 2013.
The position is sponsored by the Corporation for National & Community Service, the National Guard Bureau, AmeriCorps and Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America.
“VetCorps members are placed in community coalitions throughout America to provide support to veterans and their families, strengthen drug free coalitions and to support and enhance prevention programming,” stated Community Partnership’s Executive Director Tom Koplitz.
The position is a full-time position. Instead of a salary the VetCorps member receives a living stipend of $1,008/month and an education award of up to $5,500 upon completion of service.
Other benefits include health insurance, child care payments, professional training, valuable networking opportunities, and a chance to help build a drug free Chisago County.
Interested veterans and/or veteran’s family members should contact Tom Koplitz at 651-674-4085 to discuss the position in detail and to learn how to submit an application through a national online application process.
