The 27th annual Chisago County Pheasants Forever (PF) banquet will be held at the Lent Town Hall on Saturday, Feb. 25, beginnning with a social hour at 4 p.m., followed by the dinner at 5:30 p.m.
“Our banquet simply adds up to an exciting evening of fun for the whole family, and we put a special emphasis on youth, which will determine the future outcome of wildlife conservation in our country,” noted Tim Kane, chapter president.
“We are now in a critical situation for pheasant habitat.” Kane added, “that has been created by very high crop prices which are taking away the incentive to keep acres in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). That program, along with the habitat-creating efforts of Pheasants Forever and mild winters, has been so important in the recent boom years of pheasant numbers until last winter’s brutal weather and a cold, wet spring, combined with greatly reduced quality habitat, clobbered pheasant populations.”
Banquet admission includes dinner, chances to win great prizes, raffles and PF membership, which includes a one-year subscription to Pheasants Forever Journal of Upland Conservation, and the opportunity to make a difference for habitat and conservation in your community, according to Kane.
Past attendees have been mailed a flier with a banquet registration form to order their tickets. Tickets will also be available from PF chapter members, the North Branch AmericInn, the Porterhouse Restaurant in Center City, Chisago Hardware in Chisago City, or via Pay Pal online at www.chisagopf.org.
Tickets purchased before Feb. 11 will be eligible for the Early Bird Drawing prize of $100, Kane said, and advanced sale tickets are $10 cheaper than at the door.
