NB grad to play ball for Luther College
Daniel Schoess, a 2009 graduate of North Branch Area High School, is a member of the 2012 Luther College baseball team. The junior plays outfield for the Norse.
Luther, based in Decorah, Iowa, begins a new era under first year coach head coach Alex Smith. No stranger to Norse baseball, Smith has been involved with the team for the past 12 years as a player and assistant coach. The past six years he has served as the pitching coach.
Coach Smith inherits 18 letter winners from last year’s squad that posted a record of 24-19 and finished fifth in the Iowa Conference with a mark of 13-11. Luther begins play on March 10 when it will face Concordia-Moorhead in the Minneapolis Metrodome for a double header.
Schoess is the son of Mark and Sandy Schoess of Stacy.
