With fans screaming in the energy-filled Chisago Lakes gymnasium, both the Vikettes jazz and high kick dance teams ended their seasons by earning their best scores of the year at the Section 2AA Championships last Saturday.

The kick team performed to the song “Remedy” and took fourth place out of 14 teams, while the jazz team competed with the song “Lights” to place fifth out of 13 teams.

“I am so proud of how well the teams did on Saturday,” said Coach Marie Ray. “They have worked so hard and have been improving the entire season. The Vikettes were just one point away from third place in high kick which would have sent the team to the state tournament for the first time ever. We were really hoping to reach our goal of going to state, but still have so much to be proud of.”

Only the top three jazz and high kick dance teams qualify for the MSHSL State Championships, which take place at the Target Center Feb. 17 and 18.
