Young team does well in GRC championships

With many underclassmen on the team, the Rush City/Braham wrestling team finished fourth out of six teams at the Great River Conference Championships.

Johnathan Mielke and Jacob Lynch earned championship titles, and Brady Anderson was awarded champion runner-up.

The team racked up 139 points, ahead of Cloquet-Esko (76) and Ogilvie (61), and behind Hinckley-Finlayson (169), Mille Lacs (174) and Aitkin (225).

“We wrestled very well tonight,” said Coach Josh Moulton. “I was proud how the guys came ready to go. We are looking forward to our team section meet with Chisago Lakes and the Individuals Sections in two weeks.”

The Tigers will compete in the 7AA Team Section playoffs and quarterfinals at Milaca High School beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14. The semifinals and 7AA Team Championship will take place at Nashwauk-Keewatin High School beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17.
