The Pine City/Rush City boys hockey team (with Rush City skaters Mike Hauner, Jake Kleinsasser, Conner Werner, Blake Cook and Matt Haglund) hosted and lost 9-2 to the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm in its last game of the regular season Tuesday, Feb.14.
The Dragons ended the regular season eighth in the Two Rivers Conference with a 2-11-1 conference and 4-19-2 overall record.
The #11 seeded Pine City/Rush City boys hockey team (4-19-2 record) will face the #6 seed Princeton Tigers (11-13 record) in the first round of the Section 5A Championships at Princeton Ice Arena at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21. The winner of that game will advance to compete in the quarterfinals against the #3 seeded St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders (18-5 record) at Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, with the winner of that game advancing to the semifinals at the home of the high seed at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25.
The Section 5A Championship game will take place at Heritage Center in Duluth at 7 p.m. Friday, March 2.
