North Branch freshman Katy Trunk and junior Bayley Ertl competed well last Saturday in the State High School Gymnastics Championships.
Trunk earned 18th out of 41 entrants in the vault with a score of 9.2875 and 32nd out of 46 competitors on the uneven bars by scoring 7.95. She scored 8.6 on the balance beam and 8.45 on the floor exercise for a 34.275 total score, good for 31st place all-around.
In her only event, Ertl scored 9.1 on the vault finishing 25th.
“We are so very proud of the girls,” said Assistant Coach Tiffany Saltness. “Even though they were not in the top 10 for the state meet, it is such an accomplishment to have made it there. Katy did a great job on all of the events, she looked great! Bayley achieved her highest vault score of the season. What a finish from them both. It was a true honor to be there coaching them amongst the top gymnasts in the state. This was truly a remarkable season for the North Branch gymnastics team.”
