It’s all about the Gardening Spring Bonanza
By Jerry Vitalis, Chisago County Master Gardener
Our 14th Annual Spring Gardening Bonanza will be held at the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City on Saturday, March 10, from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. This is an all day event for only $10. Coffee, fresh rolls and tasty lunch items will be available for sale throughout the day.
There will be classes on Landscaping for Septics, Growing Blueberries, Vermiculture, Native Plants for Butterflies and Bees, Shade Gardens, Preserving Fruits and Vegetables, Edible Landscapes, Container Gardening, Backyard Orchards and Invasive Plants. Something new will be a panel of Master Gardeners sharing our Favorite Tips and Famous Flops. Believe it or not we can all remember many things that went wrong that we are willing to share.
The Keynote Speaker is Terry Nennich, U of M Extension professor. Nennich will speak on advancements in vegetable and small fruit production. He will cover new varieties, using plastics, high tunnels, and other ideas that will extend the gardening season.
We also will have many vendors who will have information available and products for sale to make gardening more enjoyable.
Walk-in registration for any remaining class seating begins at 8 a.m. the day of the event. If you have questions call the Extension Office at 651-277-0151 for more information.
