Join Friends for Community Read

Join the Rush City Friends of the Library by reading Stanley Gordon West’s “Blind Your Ponies,” the adult book selection for the group’s 2012 Community Read.

This engaging, small town basketball story will remind you of our own warm-hearted community. There’s still time to get a copy, read and join for coffee, cookies and a book discussion on Tuesday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rush City Public Library.

In honor of the Community Read, the Friends will also be hosting a huge book sale at the library the week of March 24-31. Stop by and pick up a few good reads to get you through the rest of the winter. Book donations are needed and appreciated. Please drop them off at the Rush City library.

Younger readers are invited to enjoy the 2012 youth selection, “Last Shot: a Final Four Mystery,” by John Feinstein. This is a mystery centered on an unlikely pair of detectives who discover a plot to throw the final game of the series.

Anyone who reads this novel will receive an invitation to join the Rush City boys basketball team for a NCAA game viewing at Chucker’s Bowling on Thursday, March 15 at 3:30 p.m. Just let your teacher know you read the book, or are in the process of reading it, to receive your invitation.

The youth discussion for the book will be held on Monday, March 12, from 3-4 p.m. Treats will be served and basketball talk will abound. Mrs. Karvonen and Ms. Goldenstein will host this activity in room 210 at the elementary school.
