Congressman’s mobile office
Members of the Representative Chip Cravaack’s staff will be available to meet with constituents at the following locations on Wednesday, April 11 at Sunrise Township, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Royal Wilcox Community Center, 41275 Oak St., North Branch.
Almelund seniors will meet at Amador Town Hall, Almelund, Friday, April 13, at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy an afternoon of cards and social time.
Leave ‘em Laughing movie club
Railroad buffs and classic comedy fans will unite on Friday, April 13, when the “Leave ’Em Laughing” movie club commemorates the 150th anniversary of “the great locomotive chase” with a screening of the Buster Keaton feature comedy “The General.” The event is free and open to the public and begins at 7 p.m. in the North Branch Public Library community room.
Swedish concert in Rush City
Ellinor and Leonor, two award winning folk musicians from Sweden, will give a concert at the Rushseba Town Hall, in Rush City, on Friday, April 13, at 7 p.m. For more information call 320-358-1210.
Harris Legion hosts Spring Bingo
Harris Legion Post 139 will host its Spring Bingo on Saturday, April 14, from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Harris Legion Hall 43662, Ginger Ave., Harris. There will be cash prizes as well as hams and turkeys given away.
Early Childhood Kids Stuff Sale
The North Branch Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) will be sponsoring the 15th Annual Kids Stuff Sale & EXPO on Saturday, April 14, at the North Branch Area Education Center. Admission to the event is $1/adult from 9-10 a.m. and free after 10 a.m.
Christian Women’s luncheon
You are invitied to the Christian Women’s Connection luncheon at 11:30 a.m on April 16, at the Wappogasset Bible Camp, Amery, Wis. Guitar Festival set for April 17
There will be a Guitar Festival at the Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Cambridge, Tuesday, April 17, noon- 3 p.m. This event is free and will be held in the Charles and Juanita Peterson Community Room.
Harris Legion meets April 17
Harris American Legion Post #139 and Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, April 17 at the Harris Legion Hall at 7:30 p.m. Auxiliary members, please remember your Watkins orders. Marcia Ramberg and Mavis Ramberg will be serving.
Parmly ham dinner is April 19
Ecumen Parmly LifePointes Annual Ham Dinner is Thursday, April 19, at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance age 12 and over, $9 at the door; ages 4 to 11 are $5 advance, $6 at the door; 3 and under is free.
Calvary’s ham dinner planned for April 19
The annual ham supper and bake sale at Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church, Rush Point, is set for Thursday, April 19, 4:30 – 7 p.m; the bake sale begins at 4 p.m. Proceeds from the bake sale will go to support Nathan and Kristi Bucher as they work with Jesus in Haiti Ministries. Cost of the dinner is $9 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under, with a family maximum of $25. Calvary is 5.5 miles east of Grandy at Co. Rd. 6 or 6 miles west of Rush City on Co. Rd. 7 (Rush Point Drive). The church is handicapped accessible and air conditioned.
Battle of the Bands
A Battle of the Bands for teens will be held April 20 from 7-10 p.m. at the Central Learning Center, 200 SW 4th Street, Forest Lake. Five local teen bands will vie for a grand prize of a recording session at McNally Smith College of Music. This will be a safe, sober, and chemical free celebration. No charge and free pizza. This event is hosted by the Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and LAYSB’s Our Place. NB Lions annual prime rib dinner is set for April 21
The North Branch Lions prime rib dinner will be Saturday, April 21, at the North Branch Area High School commons starting at 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $13 per individual but a pair for $25. Children’s tickets are $5 for all-you-can-eat pizza.
Auditions for Fiddler set for April 23
Masquers Theatre Company in Forest Lake will hold auditions for its summer production of Fiddler on the Roof. Auditions will be Monday, April 23, 6:30-9:30 p.m. and Tuesday, April 24, 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Forest Lake Elementary School, 408 SW 4th St., Forest Lake, call backs will Thursday, April 26, 6:30-9:00 p.m. at Forest View Elementary, 620 SW 4th St., Forest Lake. Bring sheet music in you key and wear soft soled shoes to dance and dressed to move. Performances are in July at Forest Lake High School. Computer maintenance class at Rush City Public Library
Although new computers automatically update themselves, there are other things that computer users need to know. A 90-minute class at the RC library will help you to learn about malware, software updates, anti-virus protection and more. Limited seating is available and pre-registration is required. Class is Wednesday, May 2 – 10 a.m. pre-register by Thursday, April 26 by calling 320-358–3948 or stopping by the library.
