Dale V. Fairbanks, age 73 of North Branch, died peacefully, Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at his residence with family by his side. Dale was born on April 16, 1938 in North Branch to Edson and Violet (Swanson) Fairbanks. He attended North Branch Schools, graduating in 1956. He was raised on a farm in North Branch.
Dale proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-1959.
He married Sharon Heins on June 19, 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church, North Branch.
Dale worked as a press operator and production manager at the Forest Lake Times (Sell/ECM) from 1965 until his retirement in 2001.
He loved farming, bowling with his family and sports. He is a member of the North Branch American Legion Post #85.
He is survived by his wife Sharon; sons, Todd (Kris) Fairbanks of Harris, John (Tami) Fairbanks of North Branch and Nathan (Julie) Fairbanks of North Branch; grandchildren, Allison, Joseph, Andrew (Khrissie), Amanda (Jesse) Anderson, Michael, Johnathan Becker, Cory and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Arianna Fairbanks, Isabella Anderson; sisters, Joyce (Orman) Beecher of Rock Creek and Janice (Jerome) Nelson of North Branch; brothers, Delmer (Jean) Fairbanks of North Branch and Jim (Pat) Fairbanks of Harris; sisters-in-law, Dolores Fairbanks of North Branch, Walene Fairbanks of St. Cloud, Shirley Fairbanks of Forest Lake and Jeanine Fairbanks of Harris and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Edson and Violet Fairbanks, brothers, Gerald, Kenneth, Eugene and Melvin.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2012 from Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch with Rev. Gary Guptill officiating.
Serving as organist was Deb Aulich and Jon Ekstrom served as soloist.
Interment followed the service at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with military honors provided by the North Branch American Legion Post #85.
Serving as casket bearers were Kent Beecher, Craig Fairbanks, Brian Fairbanks, Tim Fairbanks, Richard Fairbanks, Stacy Heins, Matt Nelson and Mike Johnsrud.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 8 at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch and also one hour prior to the service at church on Monday.
Arrangements were under the direction of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.
