A 20-year-old man is dead following a car accident that occurred near the intersection of Stacy Trail and Forest Boulevard in Stacy around 4 a.m. Saturday.

Jonathan Allen Gravelle, 20, of Lindstrom, was the passenger in a car driven by Brooke Marie Bednarek, 19, of Lindstrom, when the vehicle, a 2000 Dodge Stratus, rear-ended a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 19-year-old Joseph James Christensen, also of Lindstrom.

Paramedics pronounced Gravelle dead at the scene after he suffered what the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office described as “massive head trauma.”

After the Stratus rear-ended the Jetta, the Stratus started on fire.

The Stacy-Lent Fire Department responded to the accident and was able to get the blaze under control.

Chisago County Sheriff’s Captain Keith Hoppe said it is believed alcohol played a part in the crash.

Bednarek and Christensen were transported to the Wyoming Fairview Hospital by a Lake Region EMS ambulance following the crash.

They were listed in stable condition as of Monday.

County Attorney Janet Reiter said the case is currently under investigation and no charges have been filed yet with her office.
