The North Branch boys tennis team opened its season with a 7-0 loss when it hosted the Chisago Lakes Area Wildcats April 9.

The team traveled to St. Louis Park and lost 7-0 to the Orioles, April 10, before hosting and losing 6-1 to the Totino-Grace Eagles, April 12.

Last Saturday the team competed in an invitational at Princeton and lost 1-6 to the Princeton Tigers and 4-3 to the Duluth Denfeld Hunters.

“The boys played tough and were competitive at all positions,” said Coach Chad Brusky. “The biggest highlight of the match (versus Totino-Grace) was Jake Helbig at third singles playing a match that lasted close to three hours. He played out of his mind and earned the only point of the day for us.”
