RC boys golfers drive their way into a new season

By Victoria Dahlin

Tiger boys golf began last Thursday with the the combined scramble team finishing fifth overall at the Pine City Boys Scramble.

The team of Dylan Fessenden, Alex Enns, and Nick Schmidt shot a team score of 81. The team of Sam Gilbert, Brandon Henrichs, and Eddie Johnson shot a team score of 96.

“We went up to Pine City with a very inexperienced team,” said Coach Jeremy Albright. “I looked back in the van on the way up to the meet and five out of the six kids hadn’t ever played varsity or JV. Three of them were brand new to golf, and two of them played in junior high last year. I thought considering it was the first meet for most of these kids they did okay. I told them I had two goals for them at the meet. One, have fun. And two, learn something. Hopefully they were able to accomplish those goals.”

The Rush City boys and girls golf teams will compete in a meet at Moose Lake Golf Club at 4:15 p.m. April 23.
