A Youth ATV safety training class will be given Saturday, May 19 at the Chisago County Fairgrounds in Rush City. Registration is 8:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. A parent release form must be signed by parent or guardian. Test review starts at 9 a.m. followed by the written and driving test.
A $15 fee is collected during registration, checks made payable to the Dept. Of Natural Resources.
General information for youths ages 11 – 15
You must fulfill the following ATV course components: ATV CD-ROM: Available free of charge by calling the DNR Information Center at (888) 646-6367 or (651) 296-6157, or the Safety Training Office at (800) 366-8917.
Written test and field operating class
You must supply your own ATV that is greater than a 90cc. Machines of 90cc or less will not be able to participate in course. Student must also fit the machine in order to participate in course.
Please Note: You will not be allowed to participate in the field operating class unless you have first completed the ATV CD-ROM. Students who complete the ATV course are able to operate ATVs of any size with these restrictions: You must “fit” the machine.
You may make a direct crossing of a public road right-of-way or operate on state lands and frozen waters only if you are accompanied by a person 18 years of age or older who has a valid drivers license.
You are prohibited from operating along or on a public road right-of-way.
