NB tennis team struggles; Kosovic earns first win

On April 17, the North Branch boys tennis team traveled to Spring Lake Park and suffered a 7-0 loss to the Panthers.

“This was not the best match for us,” said Coach Chad Brusky. “We came off the bus and got behind early. There was good play on many of the courts. It is just very hard to win when you start 5-0 in the hole in the first set.”

The Vikings then traveled to Pine City last Friday, and #1 singles player Petar Kosovic earned his first win of the season.

Kosovic defeated his Dragon opponent 6-2, 6-4, while the team lost 6-1 to Pine City.

“This was a good match for us,” said Coach Brusky. “The guys worked really hard and played well. I was really happy to see Petar play extremely well and earned the only point for our team. We are looking forward to the rest of the matches this week.”

The North Branch boys tennis team has a 0-7 overall record. The team will host the Benilde-St. Margaret’s Red Knights at 4:05 p.m. Thursday, April 26 before traveling to Fridley to face the Tigers at 4 p.m. Friday, April 27. The Vikings will then host the Columbia Heights Hylanders at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 1.
