Chisago County Commissioner Rick Greene attended the 2012 National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) Forum: “Dialogue for Workforce Excellence” in Washington, D.C. March 10-13.
Greene is a member of the Central Minnesota Joint Powers Board (JPB), which serves 11 counties, including: Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Kandiyohi, McLeod, Meeker, Mille Lacs, Pine, Renville, Sherburne, and Wright counties. He is in his fifth year serving on the JBP.
While in Washington, Greene was among representatives from the Central Minnesota delegation who received the 2012 W.O. Lawton Business Leadership Award Grand Prize for the development of the Youth Workforce Protégé Program. The program is an innovative work experience and mentoring model that leverages local business support for at-risk youth.
In addition, Greene attended a special meeting at the US Department of Labor with Asst. Secretary Jane Oates.
He also attended meetings on Capitol Hill with the MN delegation and MN Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann, Congressmen Chip Cravaack and John Kline, and Senators Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar and their staff.
