NB Viking boys golf fifth in conference

On April 30 the North Branch boys golf team placed sixth with a score of 332 ahead of Irondale (333), St. Francis (335) and Robbinsdale Cooper (442) and behind Spring Lake Park (309), Totino-Grace (321), Benilde-St. Margaret’s (326), Chisago Lakes (328) and St. Louis Park (329) at the 18-hole North Suburban Conference Mid-season Tournament at Bunker Hills Golf Course.

Joe Fairbanks carded a 42 on the first nine and a 38 on the second for a combined score of 80.

Jared Houle scored 82 (38/45), Nick Kress 84 (43/41), Mitch Barg 85 (45/40), Regan Nelson 85 (43/42) and Jon Buboltz 87 (43/44).

The team placed fourth with a score of 163 ahead of Totino-Grace (164), St. Francis (165), Chisago Lakes Area (170), Irondale (178), Fridley (197), Robbinsdale Cooper (250) and behind St. Louis Park (154), Spring Lake Park (159). Benilde-St. Margaret’s (161) at the conference meet at Majestic Oaks Golf Course in Andover May 2.

Fairbanks carded 39, Houle 40, Nelson 42, Buboltz 42, Barg 43 and Kress 44.

The Viking boys golf team is fifth in the conference with 61 points, ahead of Chisago Lakes Area (51), St. Francis (41), Irondale (38), Fridley (24) and Robbinsdale Cooper (16) and behind Spring Lake Park (80), Benilde-St. Margaret’s (74), St. Louis Park (72) and Totino-Grace (63).

The North Branch boys golf team will compete in the North Suburban Conference Tournament at Tournament Players Club Twin Cities Golf Course in Blaine beginning at 8 a.m. (shotgun start) Monday, May 21.
