The Tiger boys and girls golf teams made the trip to Sandstone Golf Course April 30 where both teams earned their first wins of the season over East Central.
The boys scored a 206 on the nine holes, and the Eagles finished with 210. Dylan Fesseden carded a 43, Matt Strenke 48, Nick Schmidt 54 and Conner Bergman 61.
The Tiger girls scored a 243, while the Eagles team was incomplete. Taylor Schellbach came in with a 46, Sara Johnson 53, Brea LeMon 60, Alice Schweigert 84 and Allissa Thayer 94.
“We were a little short-handed on the boys side due to some sickness and some grades issues,” said Coach Jeremy Albright. “It was nice to see improvement on the scores. Nick Schmidt shot his best score of the season.”
The Tiger golfers then hosted a meet at Bulrush Golf Course versus Hinckley-Finlayson last Thursday. The boys finished with a 229 and lost to the Jaguars who carded a 187.
Fessenden ended with a 50, Schmidt 56, Bergman 60, Sam Gilbert 63, Eddie Johnson 63 and Alex Enns 67.
The girls totaled 237 to defeat the incomplete Hinckley-Finlayson team. Schellbach carded 48, Johnson 53, LeMon 51 and Thayer 85.
“Our girls’ scores overall improved,” said Coach Albright. “A very wet course from the previous several nights of rain made some of the scores go up. Still, the kids trooped through and got their rounds finished. We are looking for continued improvement as we lead up to our postseason.”
The Rush City girls golf team will compete in the Mora Girls Scramble at Mora Golf Course at noon Wednesday, May 9. Both the Tiger boys and girls will host the Braham Bombers at Bulrush Golf Course at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, May 10, before competing in the Great River Conference Championship at Fiddlestix Golf Course in Isle at 10 a.m. Monday, May 14.
