Fun in Almelund – Night on the town, June 1

“Almelund Night on the Town” is set for Friday, June 1.

It’s an evening of fun and free entertainment from 3 to 9:30 p.m. Almelund is located midway between North Branch and Taylors Falls on Hwy. 95. Everything is within easy walking distance.

Check out the Classic Car Show from 4 to 7 p.m. Come and enter your car with a model year of 1979 or older. (No entry fee.) Car owners who arrive by 5 p.m. will be entered in a drawing for a $25 BP gift card from Rod’s Country Corner. Call Diane, 651-583-2295, for more information.

If you get hungry, Rod’s World Famous Swedish Sausage will be available and ready to eat at the Almelund Mercantile, or order a fresh made pizza or sub at Rod’s Country Corner. Also visit the Almelund Farmers Market, which runs every Friday from 3-6 pm at Rod’s Country Corner at the intersection of Hwy. 95 and Park Trail. Don’t miss listening to real band music when the Interstate Band plays in Triangle Park from 6-7 p.m. And the Almelund School House Heritage Center will be open for your visit from 4-7 p.m.

Finally, check your troubles at the door and enjoy old-time comedy movies and cartoons from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the Log Barn Cinema, located in the old barn behind the Almelund School House. Bring your own chair if you wish or use their old style wooden chairs. Popcorn and concessions are available for purchase or bring your own. Movies are brought to you by the “Leave ‘em Laughing” Film Club of North Branch, 651-674-5149.

    We have always enjoyed the Night on the Town. Cool cars, great food and so much fun watching the movies in the barn. Great for all ages. The School House Museum is very interesting as well. Peace, Garth
