The man who was reportedly spotted in Harris last week after allegedly kidnapping a woman, was arrested May 22 in Anoka County.
A statewide manhunt for Dennis Wayne Aasen was launched after he reportedly kidnapped a female acquaintance in Pope County May 17 and stole her vehicle. It is believed Aasen also assaulted the woman.
Chisago County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chad Worden said deputies searched the Harris area for Aasen May 21, but they didn’t find leads about his whereabouts.
The Metro Fugitive Unit later got involved with the investigation and partnered with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Fridley Police Department to track down Aasen. He was arrested without incident.
Aasen is currently in the Douglas County Jail and is charged with kidnapping, burglary, domestic assault, false imprisonment and terroristic threats.
