In February 2011, the Fairview Lakes Auxiliary pledged to provide $50,000 over five years to help fund expansion of Lakes Cancer Clinic at Fairview Lakes Medical Center.
In May, Auxiliary President Jenny Mayer presented the final $30,000 installment on that pledge, more than three years ahead of schedule.
Steve Housh, president of Fairview Lakes Medical Center, and Jody Rick, manager of Lakes Cancer Clinic, accepted the check. Mayer explained that the pledge represents the largest single donation ever made by the auxiliary, which raises funds with proceeds from the Fairview Lakes Medical Center Gift Shop and other fundraising events.
Bea Abdallah, senior development officer of the Fairview Foundation, and Bryan Gaffy, senior director, Fairview Lakes Medical Center, Service Line and Business Development, also expressed their appreciation for the auxiliary‘s hard work and generosity. Abdallah pointed out, “The auxiliary commitment to the cancer project led the way for additional donations from members of the community, which helped to provide heated infusion therapy chairs and other amenities.”
University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview in Minneapolis operates the Lakes Cancer Clinic and Infusion Services, with oncology and hematology provided by University of Minnesota Physicians. The cancer clinic and adjacent University of Minnesota Physicians Radiation Therapy Center are attached to Fairview Lakes Medical Center.
