June events you won’t want to miss
Beginning this coming Sunday, folks in the area will have numerous opportunities for summer fun, with attractions for all ages.
The summer of 2012 begins with the annual Fly-In/Drive-In at the Rush City Regional Airport Sunday, June 10. Start the day at 8 a.m. with the RC Lions’ pancake breakfast. At 9 a.m. is the presentation of colors. Enjoy the sights and sounds of classic aircraft like a B-25 bomber, T-6s, N-3Ns and more, and the thrill of a classic car show. New this year is the rock-climbing wall. There will be airplane and helicopter rides and remote-controlled airplane demonstrations. Come just north of Rush City on Co. Rd. 30 (Forest Blvd.) to enjoy the fun.
Then get ready for North Branch Midsummer fun next week, running through Father’s Day when the main day parade takes place. The Midsummer Ambassador coronation is Friday night, June 15, and there is a carnival with thrilling rides and games in Central Park through all five days. There’ll be a free “Buy Local” lunch under the tent at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 16. There will be bingo, a fire department water fight, street dances, and fireworks. Also kids games and kiddie parade on Saturday morning. See page 11 for complete details.
Head on down to Stacy, Sunday, June 24 for the 4th annual Red Bull Military Appreciation Day. Includes military displays, kids games, food, rock climbing wall and on Saturday, June 23, the Red Bulls Motorcycle Run. This is to appreciate all military veterans and active duty personnel and their families. Ceremony at noon at Rick Doyl Field. More information at www.csoaf.com.
