A young girl is dead after drowning in an aboveground pool at her family’s home in Chisago Lakes Township.
The drowning happened June 6 at approximately 5:40 p.m., according to the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and personnel from Lakes Regions EMS responded to the residence on Kodiak Avenue after receiving a call about the drowning.
When they arrived, a neighbor who is trained as a nurse was already performing CPR on the girl, but to no avail.
The girl was transported to Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming and pronounced dead at 6:27 p.m.
Authorities determined the father of the girl was working outside while his wife was inside with their other children when the drowning occurred.
He reported he thought his daughter was upstairs playing with her two older sisters.
The girl drowned in the shallow end of the pool, which is about three feet deep.
Authorities estimated the girl might have been unaccounted for about 1/2 hour.
