To the Editor:
Russell Stark and I formed our friendship in the seventh grade of Harris. We rode the bus together to North Branch and shared the noon hour of four years of high school in a corridor of stacked chairs, there being no school lunchroom or meals served in those days of North Branch High.
We were both linemen in the Viking Eleven of 1941.
The day the plane went down with Russell and brother Harvey, I was with the 124th Infantry near Aitope, New guinea.
We are few and far between from that part of our past and should I journey northward again, I will pause once again at the stone for Russ and Harvey.
