Flag burning ceremony in RC June 14

The Rush City American Legion Post #93 will conduct a flag retirement ceremony on Flag Day, Thursday, June 14 at 1 p.m.  The ceremony will be held at Triangle Park (downtown Rush City).  Anyone who has a flag to dispose of should bring it to the park that day, give it to a Legion member, or drop it off at City Hall prior to June 14.  Everyone is invited to watch the ceremony that day.

Willow Grove picnic June 16

All former students, their families and friends of the Willow Grove School are invited to the annual picnic on June 16 at noon at the Harris Legion Hall for a potluck. Bring a dish to share, beverages, plates and silverware provided. See you there.

Harris Legion, Auxiliary meets June 19

Harris American Legion Post #139 and Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, June 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Harris American Legion Hall. Marie Carlson and Bev Schmidt will be serving.

Lyme Association meeting

The Minnesota Lyme Association North Branch Chapter meets on Tuesday, June 19 at 6:30 p.m. inside the North Branch Public Library. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Green Acres Country Care Center reunion June 23

There will be a get-together 1-5 p.m. at Central Park in North Branch June 23 for anyone who worked at Green Acres Country Care Center. It will be a time to catchup with fellow co-workers. East Central Regional Development Commission to hold annual meeting

The East Central Regional Development Commission will hold its annual meeting on Monday, June 25, at Steven’s Restaurant, 202 North Rum River Drive, Princeton, Minnesota.  The business meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will include a public hearing at 5:45 p.m. on the Commission’s proposed Fiscal Year 2012-2013 budget and annual work program.  Copies of the annual work program and budget will be available at the meeting or may be requested by calling the East Central Regional Development Commission at (320) 679-4065 ext. 25 or e-mail to [email protected]

N. Chisago Historical Society celebrates sesquicentennial

On Tuesday, June 26, at 7 p.m. at Rushseba Town Hall, the North Chisago Historical Society will hold a program celebrating the sesquicentennial of the Civil War/Dakota Uprising. Guest speaker is Dean Urdahl, currently state representative on the
Governor’s committee for this celebration. This is a joint venture of history societies in East Central Minnesota. Books will be available to purchase.

Make a 4th of July garland June 26

We ‘R Able offers a 4th of July garland making class from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26 at the Chisago County Senior Center in North Branch. Sue DeLuney is the teacher and will help participants create a garland with pieces of fabric, decoration, notions, buttons or flowers. The focus is the colors and feelings surrounding the Fourth of July. For more information or to register call 320-358-1220. We ‘R Able provides programs for adults with disabilities in a four-school district area: Pine City, Rush City, North Branch and Chisago Lakes. All programs are accessible and open to the general public.
