What a great idea!
Activities coordinator Brett Carlson is now soliciting nominations for Hall of Fame induction in 2012. Did I mention that I am rather fond of the idea?
Our students go on to do great things, it is what we prepare them for and what we hope for. School, after all, is a training ground for life. However, in our passion for providing students the tools to be successful citizens, parents, business people, and community members, it can be easy to overlook the accomplishments of some students while they are still in school.
Not only do our students sometimes exceed what is expected of them, staff members and community members often do as well. The Viking Hall of Fame allows interested citizens the opportunity to recognize all three; students, coaches, and community volunteers.
We know there are many out there who deserve to be recognized for their accomplishments, and we hope you will take advantage of this nomination process to help us start down the road of recognizing excellence in activities.
Eligibility is as follows:
Students must have lettered and have graduated 10 years ago or more. Other considerations include his/her accomplishments while at North Branch Area Public Schools and beyond.
Nominees for coaches must have been out of coaching at NBAPS for a minimum of five years. They will be measured using such statistics as win/loss, length of career, impact on the lives of students, and the development of athletics in the community.
Community members also have a nomination category, for individuals who have made positive contributions to the athletic program and have unselfishly given their time or talent above and beyond ordinary expectations.
General rules and a nomination form can be found at the Athletics and Activities home page: www.northbranch.k12.mn.us/nbaps/activities/. The nomination period ends on Aug. 1, and winners will be announced at halftime of the Homecoming football game on Sept. 21. Call Brett Carlson with questions: (651) 674-1512.
