Grote continues journey as Queen of the Lakes candidate
North Branch Midsummer Ambassador announces that 2011 Midsummer Ambassador Kallie Grote will continue to represent North Branch as a Queen of the Lakes candidate at the Minneapolis Aquatennial.
When the judges interviewed the candidates last June, they not only chose three Ambassadors, they also chose one of the Ambassadors to represent North Branch and the Midsummer Ambassador Program at the Aquatennial in 2012.
Each year young women around the state are chosen to represent their communities as a candidate for Queen of the Lakes and Princesses at the Aquatennial. The Queen of the Lakes serves as an ambassador throughout the state, nation and internationally. The candidates participate in the Queen of the Lakes Scholarship Program, a week-long candidate program that includes multiple judging sessions, alumni events and activities sponsored by local businesses.
At the end of her time as an ambassador, the Queen is given a scholarship to continue her education, as are her Princesses.
The Midsummer judges hosted a fundraiser for Kallie this spring, raising funds for her candidacy as well as her wardrobe and other costs involved with this opportunity. The Ambassadors thank judges, Jayme, Anna, Annette and Tracy for this generous gift as well as Laura Fanucci for opening up her home for the dinner and silent auction. A special thanks also to Stellar Kent for their generous donation and Klondike Kates for their entertainment.
To the many people who came in support of Kallie to the dinner and fundraiser and for the generosity of those who donated, thank you so much. Kallie is the daughter of Kevin and Andrea Grote, and she is a 2012 graduate of North Branch Area High School.
Coronation for the Queen of the Lakes program will be July 20 at the University of Minnesota.
