Concerts in the Park: a Hometown Celebration, are held Thursday evenings starting July 12 at 7 p.m. in Central Park, North Branch. For the next five weeks, this series features a variety of family-friendly music.
Arrive by 6:45 p.m. to enjoy “Story Time” with friends who want to share their love of reading. Get a free child’s book to follow along, for the first 50 families to attend.
Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and invite your neighbors and join the fun.
These concerts are smoke- and alcohol-free.

Retrospective Art Show at the Kanabec History Center
The Kanabec County Art Association is celebrating its 50th anniversary of supporting the arts in the Kanabec County area at their Retrospective Art Show at the Kanabec History Center in Mora on July 13 and 14, opening reception will take place July 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. The exhibit is also open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 14. Annual garden tour benefits scholarship program
The Fairview Lakes Auxiliary’s annual garden tour is set for Sunday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m and includes visits to 10 gardens in Forest Lake, Stacy and Wyoming.
Tickets and maps for the tour are now on sale for $15 at all local Fairview Clinics, the Fairview Lakes Medical Center Gift Shop in Wyoming, The Yellow Bus in Forest Lake, Waldoch Farms in Circle Pines and Crabtree’s Garden Gate in Marine on St. Croix. Proceeds of the tour benefit the Donna Mathias Student Service Award, one of the auxiliary’s ongoing scholarship programs.
On the day of the tour, tickets will be sold at Fairview Lakes Medical Center until noon.
The East Central MN Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays will meet on Sunday, July 15, 4 p.m. at the ARC Retreat Center, 1680 373rd Ave NE, Stanchfield – west of Grandy. Relay For Life
Chisago County Relay For Life is set for Friday, July 20 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Almelund Threshing Grounds. Bring the family for supper and an evening of fun to include food, games, silent auction and music.
NB Garden Club tour/party
The North Branch Garden Club invites members and the public to join them for their annual garden tour/party. They will meet at Carol Clarin’s home at 6659 335th St. Stacy at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 22. Directions to Carol’s house: Take Hwy. 30/Forest Blvd from Hwy. 95 South about 5.4 miles turn left/east on 335th go about 1/4 mile to a long driveway on the right.
After spending some time enjoying her gardens they will car pool to three more gardens: Dan Forschler, Katherine Salverda, Dale Schmidt. The final stop will be at the new Anderson Park in Isanti. After a brief history of the park and an opportunity to hike the trail they will have a light supper. $10 will cover the evening and a membership in the club for 2012-2013. Circus coming to Chisago Lakes
The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is coming to Chisago Lakes Wednesday, July 25 by Lindstrom Lions Park with two scheduled performances at 5 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.
Between 9:30 and 10 a.m. come watch the raising of the Big Top, then stay for the free tour. In this presentation they will address topics such as hygiene, grooming and the veterinary care of their animals.

Explore your family history at the North Branch Area Library
Reference staff from East Central Regional Library will present a class for the public about basic genealogy using the AncestryPlus Library genealogical database and more. The class will be held at the North Branch Area Library on Tuesday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m. Class size is limited to the first 15 people. Basic computer experience is a must. 2012 Braham Pie Day set for Aug. 3
Braham, the “Homemade Pie Capital of Minnesota,” will hold its one-day pie festival Friday, Aug. 3 in Freedom Park. The day includes pies in the park, crafters, a quilt show and performing artists, essentially all things “pie.”
Guests can enjoy their first piece of pie at 10 a.m. The Berry Fairy, the Queen of Tarts, and Mr. Pastry will serve as hosts for the stage where everyone can listen to music from Café Accordion, Ross & MacKenzie, the St. Anthony Brass Band, and the Pie-Alluia Chorus. Summer Tips Promenad at Frandsen Park in August
We R Able has organized two August dates to play Tips Promenad, a type of scavenger hunt that originally comes from Sweden. On Monday, Aug. 6 at 6:30 p.m. and again on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 10:30 a.m. Kriste Ericsson will meet prospective participants at the Frandsen County Park west of Rush City. There is a modest fee and pre-registration is needed one week before each event.
