The Special Olympics North Branch community team competed in the Special Olympics Minnesota State Summer Games on June 21-23 in Stillwater. All athletes competed in a variety of events, with 17 athletes in track and field, 10 athletes in tennis and 14 athletes in gymnastics.
The venue was enjoyable, as the weather couldn’t have been better. There was fun for everyone including a dinner, opening ceremonies hosted by KMSP-TV Fox 9 chief meteorologist Ian Leonard, a parade and dance. Congratulations to all athletes who participated.
Anyone who is interested in participating in Special Olympics or volunteering for the local team should call Special Olympics Minnesota to get more information.
