The Rum River Bandits’ tune up for the playoffs rewarded the local baseball club with an 11-4 win over the Kensington Norsemen on July 24.

Bandits slugger Matt Ziebarth pounded three hits with 5 RBIs, Josh Coleman also had three hits and an RBI and Brian Pose knocked in a pair of runs. Pitching six strong innings was Mike Koplitz who allowed two earned runs on four hits while striking out four. Eric Koplitz had an excellent outing, giving up only one hit while striking out two in two and a third innings. Tom Koplitz (the old man) finished up with the last two outs, giving up two hits in the process.

More than 100 Killebrew Root Beer floats were handed out on Killebrew Root Beer Night, compliments of Jim Lundeen and Killebrew Root Beer. Thanks to the Bandits work crew for all their help.

Thanks also to Mike Anderson and the Norsemen for making the 132-mile trip (each way) for a mid-week game. Kensington has a good, young ball club and a bunch of fun, dedicated ballplayers.

Playoffs start Saturday at Hinckley where the Bandits will take on the Nowthen Knights at 4 p.m. Hinckley will host the next game on Sunday at a game time to be determined (either 1 p.m. or 7 p.m.).
