The Chisago Soil & Water Conservation District will be holding a Total Maximum Daily Load Implementation Plan meeting in conjunction with the Aug. 6 Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District Meeting.
A Total Maximum Daily Load is a calculation of the maximum amount of a pollutant that a waterbody can receive and still meet water quality standards and an allocation of that amount to the pollutants source. Ten lakes within the Chain of Lakes are impaired, and many others are close to being impaired.
This means that we need to help reduce pollutant loading to the lakes to meet standards and keep the lakes enjoyable for recreation for years to come. We are now working on the plan to identify projects to be completed to reduce pollutant loading into the lakes.
