Future looking bright for NB baseball

North Branch boys in the 13U AA Traveling Baseball League recently won two playoff games to become the Gopher State Baseball League Champions in 13AA Section 1 Tier II.

In the Tier 1 final, they earned runner-up after falling to the Anoka Tornadoes 6-4 on July 25.

The 12U AA team from North Branch also turned some heads by going 16-0 in regular season play. Coached by Bob Maxey, Paul Ramberg, Brad Johnson and Rob Sanvik, the boys started the season with something to prove as they were ranked last by “Let’s Play Baseball” magazine.

After its first two tournaments, however, the team climbed to tops in the state and held onto the No. 1 ranking for the rest of the season. Tournaments started in May.
