On Tuesday, Aug. 7, the North Chisago Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. at Rushseba Town Hall and the program will be a display of gifts given to the society from the family of Esther Schmidt.
Esther was an extraordinary teacher whether it was for 4-H, Pioneer School, public school or junior college. Her interests went beyond teaching to rock collecting and political involvement. She was a frequent speaker at churches and community organizations well into her 90s.
Many memories of her life will be shared as well as items from her teaching days and paintings of her friend Effie Bornhoft. The evening should be very entertaining, especially if you knew Esther Schmidt.
The Sept. 4 meeting of the NCHS will be 7 p.m. at Rushseba Town Hall and a popular musical group will be on hand.
On Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. at Rushseba Town Hall, Gwen Swenson will give a presentation on the history of 4-H with emphasis on Chisago County involvement.
