Pearl Conger

Pearl Lorraine Conger, age 96, of North Branch, Minn., died Friday, August 3, 2012 at Ecumen of North Branch. Pearl was born April 20, 1916 in Allenville, Wisconsin, to George and Flora Smith.

She attended Allenville and Oshkosh schools. She married Edwin Conger on September 11, 1935.

As a young girl she was active in the youth group of the Community Baptist Church in Allenville, acting in plays the church minister wrote and staged for the young people.

She began sewing her own clothing at a very young age, and her skill as a seamstress continued throughout her life.

She sewed for her daughters and their families. She also did alterations for Adrian’s Men’s Store and sewed skirts and berets for the marching unit of the North Branch Girl Scouts.

Pearl enjoyed reading. She was active in the North Branch Women’s Civic Club, Eastern Star, VFW Auxiliary and Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aide.

She and Ed loved to travel and made numerous trips throughout the US and took a trip to Cuba in the late forties.

After Ed’s death Pearl continued to travel with her family to Hawaii, the British Isles, Norway and may other countries in Europe.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin, brothers Herbert, Edward and Raymond; sisters Ariel and Hazel; son-in-law Gordon Sederberg and great-grandson Joshua Sederberg.

Pearl is survived by daughters Sharon (John) Peterson and Diane (Ronald) Barsness, 8 grandchildren: Vicki (Donald) Borowick, Gregory (Vicki) Barsness, Grant (Kari) Perrin, John Perrin, Michelle (Jeffrey) Egelkraut, Robert (Dana) Sederberg, Troy Sederberg, Andrea (John) Grehan; 22 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Lorraine Smith, Mabel Smith, Pat Smith and many nieces and nephews.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Pearl will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch with Rev. Gary Guptill officiating.

Music was provided by Deb Aulich and Jon Ekstrom.

Visitation was held Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch and also one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday.

Interment followed the service at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in North Branch.

Serving as casket bearers were John Perrin, Grant Perrin, Michael Grehan, Troy Sederberg, Robert Sederberg, Noel Egelkraut, Gregory Barsness and Jeremy Grams.
