Final Concerts in the Park this Thursday
Concerts in the Park: a Hometown Celebration, are held 7 p.m. Thursday evenings in Central Park, North Branch. This week’s music is provided by the “The Splatter Sisters” with children’s music and fun for the whole family. These concerts are smoke- and alcohol-free and concessions are available.

Wildlife Science Center coming to the Chisago Lakes library
The Chisago Lakes Area Library welcomes the Wildlife Science Center Thursday, Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. Animals Nobody Loves is an hour long program including (depending on the availability, health and temperament of the animals) a skunk, a porcupine, a snake and a raptor; live animals and artifacts introduce the natural history of these “unlikeable” animals focusing on identification, adaptations and behavior. There will also be some information about wolves. The program is open to the public.
NB Legislative committee to meet
The North Branch Area Legislative Action Committee meeting is set for Monday, Aug. 20, 7 – 8 p.m. in Room B100 at North Branch Area High School.
Harris American Legion
Harris American Legion Post #139 and Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Harris American Legion Hall.
Vennelag to meet Aug. 21
Vennelag Lodge 1-546 of Sons of Norway will meet Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Lindstrom Community Center. After the business meeting they will be entertained by a group of five local musicians named “Out Numbered.” Guests are always welcome at Vennelag meetings. Hostesses for the evening are Donna “D” Johnson and Shirley Wariakois.
Minnesota Lyme Association meeting
Minnesota Lyme Association meets on Aug. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the North Branch Area Library 6355 379th St.
They will be viewing DVD part 2 of “Putting Lyme Behind You” by Dr Burrascano who is joined by a panel of Lyme-treating physicians answering lyme-related questions.
Almelund Apple Festival set for Sept. 16
The 19th annual Almelund Apple Festival is set for Sunday, Sept. 16, 11 a.m.– 4 p.m. at the Amador School House Heritage Center and Swedish Immigrant Log Farm in Almelund.
