Injured deputy back to work

A Chisago County Sheriff’s deputy injured while breaking up a fight at the Almelund Threshing Show is now back on duty.

Sgt. Jason Foster missed a week of work due to injuries he sustained after two men in the beer garden area reportedly physically assaulted him and Deputy Chad Stenson.

The deputies eventually subdued and arrested the quarrelsome duo.

Stenson sustained minor injuries, but did not miss time from work.

“He’s doing pretty good,” Chisago County Sheriff’s Capt. Keith Hoppe said of Foster’s health.

The men, Jeffrey Salo, 20, of North Branch, and Michael Keali Scharenbroch, 23, of Stacy, will be appearing in Chisago County District Court Aug. 27 on 4th degree assault on a peace officer charges, which are felonies.
