Lila Elizabeth Winter
Lila Elizabeth Winter, age 80, of Lester Prairie, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minn.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 3 p.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, Minn., with interment in the church cemetery. Pastor Eric Nelson officiated.
Honorary casket bearers were Maddie Winter, Wyatt Winter.
Casket bearers were Richard Winter, Jon Winter, Travis Winter, Justin Winter, Tom Mallak, Ken Kriesel.
Lila Elizabeth (Seefeldt) Winter was born on February 8, 1932 in Lester Prairie, Minn. She was the daughter of Herman and Lottie (Packer) Seefeldt.
Lila was baptized as an infant on February 21, 1932 by Rev. J.A. Schert at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, and was later confirmed as a youth on April 14, 1946 by Rev. R. A. Ritz at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. She graduated from Lester Prairie High School in 1950 as her class valedictorian.
She was united in marriage to Melvin Winter on October 21, 1950 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
The couple made their home in Lester Prairie and were blessed with four children: Richard, Cindi, Sue and Jon.
They shared 16 years of marriage until Melvin passed away November 4, 1966.
Lila moved to North Branch, Minn., and returned to Lester Prairie in 2003.
In addition to being a loving homemaker and mother, Lila held employment at Lester’s Inc., and Lester Prairie (Thiel) Cafe, Rutz Plumbing & Heating in Hutchinson, and Anderson & Koch Ford in North Branch.
She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie where she was part of LMWL. She was also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
Lila was a kind and thoughtful woman. Her greatest love was being a mom. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting and bird watching.
She especially cherished her time spent with her family and friends.
Lila is survived by her children Richard (Joyce) Winter of Lester Prairie, Cindi Plocher and Tom Mallak of Lester Prairie, Sue Winter of Lester Prairie and Jon Winter of Fridley, Minn.; grandchildren Travis (Jessi) Winter of Aitkin, Minn., Justin (Danitra) Winter of Prescott, Wis., great-grandchildren Maddie Winter and Wyatt Winter; sister Lillian Paul of Fridley, Minn.; brothers-in-law Orville Winter of Litchfield, Minn., Tony Albers of Waconia, Minn., Ken Boerner of Champlin, Minn.; sister-in-law Germayne Winter of Glencoe, Minn., nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin, father-in-law and mother-in-law Fred and Christine Winter, sister Myrtle Slomkoski (Edward), brother-in-law Harold Paul, sisters-in-law Muriel Albers, Laverna Boerner, and niece Antonia Larson.
